This Little Light of Mine

I had a recent conversation with one of my spiritual friends and I was reminded of an article that I read in National Geographic many years ago that talked about the sun and how it was one big fusion reaction.  It said that the sun was made of proton atoms and that it was a huge continuous fusion reaction.  This made think of how many great civilizations of the past such as Egypt (Kemet), India (Aryan), and many Earth-based religions all worshiped the sun and were thankful for its life-giving properties.  The sun it is said shines on the good and the bad and is impartial.  It just keeps giving light and life to the whole planet.  If we expand this metaphor of the sun to represent who we are supposed to be we realize that we are all supposed to be positive and to continue to shine light in our worlds.  We are supposed to feed off of positive energy and are supposed to give positive energy to others.  There may be some sun spots that go dark from time to time but it is the light that we bring to others that matters most.

Don’t give scope to negative thoughts  and behavior.  I did a jyoti or light meditation this evening and  had a profound vision.  I got to the part where I envisioned the light inside my body emanating outward to the community and the world and saw other people meditating at that moment and The Light shining through them and connecting with my light.  All of our lights were connected in a spiritual internet that criss-crossed the globe and penetrated all areas.  Then The Light went out into the planets and the universe into the other worlds and connected with the light there as well.  Soon the whole universe was just light, a pure, healing, positive energy force.   The mantras that I chanted in the beginning and the end of this meditation were the Gayatri Mantra and the prayer for the worlds to be happy – Samaste Loka Sukino Bhavantu.  These prayers sync perfectly with this vision because the Gayatri is a prayer to The Light to illuminate our path.  It also prays to the three worlds – physical, subtle and causal.  The Samaste prayer reaches out into the universe into all the worlds and prays for everyone’s well-being.
