Hearing Your Inner Guidance
Hearing your inner guidance and conscience is not as hard as
people think. And that’s just the point:
don’t think. Use your emotion to guide
you. That is the whole point of quieting
the mind in meditation. By quieting the
mind you are able to feel what your heart or emotion is trying to communicate
to you. Ask a question about anything
that is troubling you and then quiet your mind and observe your feelings about
the subject. Your feelings will tell you
how to address the issue. If you have a
negative emotion about a certain action then that is the not the way to go. Whichever action feels good is the way to
go. Now it is important to distinguish
between the difference of feeling good to the senses versus feeling good to the
inner part of you. If you make your
decision just because it feels good to your physical self then you are not feeling
deep enough. It has to resonate with
your whole being.
Now the mind is a powerful instrument and when we have a
strong attachment or aversion to something we can cause resistance to actually
hearing the message from our inner guidance.
Sometimes we don’t want to hear the answer that our inner guidance is telling
us because we have strongly formed opinions or beliefs about an issue. Being able to release this resistance is
important to getting a clear message.
One way to release resistance is to consider all of the possible
outcomes of a situation and make peace with all of these outcomes. Find a positive perspective to look at in all
of the outcomes. This will diffuse any
strongly held opinions and allow for a clearer message to come through. If this is too difficult then first practice
bringing up the circumstance in your mind and visualizing a powerful healing
light surrounding the issue. This will
create positive energy that you can hold onto whenever the issue comes up and
eventually will illuminate other positive outcomes.
