Spiritual Guides and Our Ultimate Goal

Religion and all spiritual teachings are there to help guide us through life and teachers and religious “leaders” are supposed to be there to help guide us when we have difficulty interpreting the messages. But it is important to understand the nature of this relationship. 

All of these external sources are guides and nothing more.  They can’t do the actions for us.  We have to take the steps to make things happen.  What’s more is that these guides are supposed to be training us to be on our own. 

The whole point of going to school is to graduate.  If you stay in school forever it just means that you haven’t learned your lessons yet.  Our end goal is to be able to move through existence without the guide because we have learned the lessons and can effectively guide ourselves.
